How do I replace X-ray tubes on the RAYEX S 50?
This article explains how to safely replace the X-ray tubes on a RAYEX® S 50 measuring unit. X-ray tube replacement must be performed carefully to avoid damage to sensitive components and to ensure safe operation.
Important safety information
-
X-ray tubes operate with high voltage.
-
Replacement must be performed only by qualified personnel.
-
Always disconnect the system from the mains power supply before starting.
-
Never disconnect cables directly at the X-ray tube unless explicitly instructed.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in equipment damage or serious safety risks.
Applicable system
-
RAYEX® S 50
This procedure applies specifically to the RAYEX® S 50 model.
Step-by-step procedure
Step 1: Power down the system
Disconnect the RAYEX® S 50 from the power supply and unplug the power cord completely.
Step 2: Remove the protective tube (if installed)
If an outer protective tube is installed on the product inlet side, remove it according to the maintenance instructions.
Step 3: Remove the protective cover
Loosen all mounting screws and carefully remove the protective cover. The cooling unit is mounted on the left side of this cover.
Step 4: Disconnect the high-voltage connections
Disconnect the high-voltage tube cables from the high-voltage distributor.
Do not disconnect the black cable and do not disconnect cables directly at the X-ray tube unless specified.
Step 5: Disconnect control and grounding cables
Disconnect the control cable by turning the bayonet connector. Disconnect the earthing cable by pressing the retaining tab.
Step 6: Remove the X-ray tube
Loosen the two mounting screws securing the X-ray tube. Carefully remove the X-ray tube together with its support. The support must not be separated from the tube, as it protects the sensitive X-ray outlet diaphragms.
Step 7: Install the new X-ray tube
Install the replacement X-ray tube with its support in the same position.
Secure it using the two mounting screws.
Step 8: Reassemble the unit
Reconnect all cables in reverse order.
Reinstall the protective cover and ensure that the red high-voltage cables are not squeezed when closing the cover.
After replacement: mandatory adjustment
After replacing an X-ray tube, a system adjustment is required before the unit can be returned to operation.
-
Perform the adjustment procedure as described in the Calibration chapter of the RAYEX S Web Server / Software Manual.
