When should the RAYEX S be returned for repair?
This article explains when the RAYEX® S measuring unit must be taken out of service and returned for repair to ensure safe and reliable operation.
Situations requiring return for repair
The RAYEX® S must be returned for repair whenever safe or correct operation can no longer be guaranteed. This includes, but is not limited to, the following situations.
Failed safety checks
The RAYEX® S must be returned for repair if any mandatory safety check does not proceed correctly, including:

Warning lamp test

Internal safety switch test

External emergency shut-off test

Scattered radiation measurement
If one of these tests fails, the device must not be used anymore and must be taken out of service immediately by disconnecting the mains power.
Electrical or radiation safety concerns
Return the RAYEX® S for repair if:

There is suspected hazardous voltage exposure inside the unit

The housing or protective components are damaged

There is a risk of excessive stray or scattered radiation
-
The unit does not switch to a safe state when required
Any damage that could lead to unsafe operation requires immediate removal from service.
Malfunctions that cannot be resolved
The RAYEX® S must be returned for repair if:

The malfunction cannot be resolved using the troubleshooting guidelines

The issue persists after replacing user-replaceable spare parts
-
Measurement values remain incorrect despite proper reference measurements and calibration
In these cases, further operation is not permitted.
Repairs not permitted by the user

Repairs involving components not listed as customer-replaceable

Internal electronic or high-voltage components

X-ray sources (which contain no serviceable parts)
Such repairs must only be performed by Zumbach service engineers or authorized personnel.
After incidents or abnormal events
The RAYEX® S must be returned for repair after:

A breakdown or incident affecting operation or safety

Physical damage due to impact or transport

Any situation where safe operation is uncertain
Before reuse, the device must be inspected and approved by authorized service personnel.
How to return the RAYEX S for repair
When returning the device for repair, always:
