Who is allowed to install, operate, or maintain the RAYEX S?
This article explains which personnel are authorized to install, operate, maintain, or service the RAYEX® S measuring system.
General responsibility
The RAYEX® S is an industrial X-ray measuring system that involves radiation and high voltage. For this reason, access to installation, operation, maintenance, and repair is strictly regulated.
Only trained and authorized personnel are allowed to work with the system. Improper handling may lead to serious safety risks, equipment damage, or non-compliance with regulations.
Who is allowed to install the RAYEX S?
Installation of the RAYEX® S may only be performed by:

Qualified personnel

Qualified electricians for all electrical connections

Personnel familiar with local safety and radiation regulations
This includes:

Mechanical installation and positioning
-
Electrical installation and earthing
-
Connection of external safety circuits and emergency shut-off devices
Installation work must always be carried out according to the instruction manual.
Who is allowed to operate the RAYEX S?
Operation of the RAYEX® S is permitted only for:

Trained operators

Personnel instructed in the correct and safe use of the system

Personnel who understand the operating conditions and safety indicators
Operators must:

Use the system only for its intended purpose

Never bypass safety devices or protective covers

Stop operation immediately if abnormal behavior or safety concerns arise
Untrained personnel must not operate the RAYEX® S.
Who is allowed to maintain the RAYEX S?
Maintenance activities are restricted to:

Trained maintenance personnel

Qualified electricians for electrical-related tasks
Permitted maintenance includes:

Preventive maintenance tasks described in the manual

Safety checks and inspections

Replacement of parts explicitly listed as user-replaceable
All maintenance must be performed with the system disconnected from the mains power supply.
Who is allowed to repair the RAYEX S?
Repairs are strictly limited to:

Zumbach service engineers
-
Authorized personnel trained by Zumbach
The following actions are not allowed for users or operators:

Opening X-ray sources

Repairing internal high-voltage components
-
Replacing parts not listed as customer-replaceable
X-ray sources contain no serviceable parts and must never be opened by the user.
Special cases and restrictions
The RAYEX® S must not be worked on by unauthorized personnel in the following situations:

After a breakdown or incident

If a mandatory safety check fails
-
If radiation or electrical safety is in doubt
In these cases, the unit must be taken out of service and returned for repair.
